Last night (September 29, 2009) I had a blast at Metallica's concert! Held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas; I was screaming, pumping my fist, holding up my horns, and standing for the entire 5 hour concert and another 3 hours from waiting to get inside the stadium to riding the DART Rail home. Last night was an experience of a lifetime as I got to see Gojira, Lamb of God, and Metallica perform on stage! I was on the floor area and right up-front on the west end of the stage. I didn't know much about Gojira, nor did I expect much from them, but WOW! Their drummer is insane and their bassist is my newest idol (for bass players); That guy just was all over the place, running around on stage and head-banging stronger than anyone that night. I'm definitely making sure I pick up Gojira's latest album. Lamb of God was phenomenal (as always) and in the middle of one of their songs, someone in the audience threw a water bottle at the lead singer (Randy Blythe) and completely missed. Randy then thanked everyone for being at the concert and singled out the guy saying, "...Except you, faggot. That's the reason you didn't get that baseball scholarship..." Woo! You get him, Randy! Thankfully, Lamb of God performed two of my favorite songs, "Laid to Rest" and "Redneck".
Last but not least, I saw the legendary Metallica! What an fantastic performance from the band with a strong setlist comprised of: "Enter Sandman", "Nothing Else Matters", "Master of Puppets", "Cyanide", "The Day That Never Comes", "Sad But True", "One", "All Nightmare Long", "Seek and Destroy", "Whiplash", "Unforgiven", "Four Horseman", "Orion" and a cover song that I didn't recognize. At the end, they dropped Metallica black volleyballs and were throwing out autographed guitar picks. The only disappointing thing was that some of songs were omitted from their setlist that I wish were played, such as: "Fuel", "The Memory Remains", "Hero of the Day", "Dyer's Eve", "Creeping Death", "Battery", "For Whom the Bell Tolls", "No Leaf Clover", "Shortest Straw", "Ride the Lightning", "Blackened", and "Wherever I May Roam" (my favorite). Overall, it was one hell of a damn time and one I will cherish for the rest of my life! Here's some pictures I took while I was there of Metallica: Drummer- Lars Ulrich, Lead Guitarist- Kirt Hammett, Lead Singer/Guitarist - James Hetfield, and Bassist- Robert Trujillo.
